What You Can Drink To Lose Weight!

When you are trying to lose weight, you must make sure that you eat the right things. But what you drink is equally important. Here are my top picks for things to drink that will help you lose weight.

1. Protein shakes

Protein shakes are both a drink and a meal, and can either replace an entire meal or be an addition to a meal.

They are useful in several ways: The high level of protein will saturate you, which means you will feel like you had enough to eat. It will also be healthy, as the protein is needed for basically every process in your body, also the processes that have to do with losing weight.

The protein is used for building muscle tissue, enzymes that disintegrate fat in the body, the immune system and many other things.

One aspect for you to consider: The protein powder should have very few carbohydrates (carbs). The one I use every day has 2.2 grams per 100 grams. But for one meal, I only use 30 grams, so I virtually consume no sugar at all when I drink a protein shake!

It is also best to mix the protein with cold water instead of milk. Once you get used to it, you won't crave for sugar any more and have full control over what you eat.

2. Water

It may sound very simple to understand the role of water in a diet, but there is much more to it than what you think.

-Water has no energy (carbs, protein, fat)
-Water speeds up digestion of food in your body
-Water is cheap, and in many countries safe to use from the water tap at home
-You can drink a glass of water whenever your stomach feels painfully empty

How much water should you drink? Well, first of all, most of us drink too little water. Maybe you have heard about recommendations such as "drink two bottles of water a day". That is already the minimum. You should drink more than what your thirst is telling you to drink.

It is perfectly okay to drink 3 or 4 bottles of water a day, and even more if you like. You will have to go to the bathroom a lot more often, but the water will flush your system. The only thing you should never do is try to break a record with drinking water. As long as you are feeling okay and being sensible about drinking, you should be fine.

3. Coffee

During a diet, coffee can be useful. It not only wakes you up, but also speeds up processes in the body. The whole body is more awake and will burn energy faster. Some coffee once in a while is therefore good for your diet. It is best used in the morning if you can't seem to get out of bed.

4. Soup

We usually speak of "eating" a soup rather than drinking. But from a nutritious point of view, it can be attributed to drinking more than eating. Just like drinking water, there are some advantages of eating soup. The only requirement for the soup to help in your diet is that it doesn't add much to your calories.

This is achieved by eating a clear soup (the water is visible and distinguishable from the remaining ingredients). One example is a vegetable soup. Here is how the soup can help you:

-Fills your stomach, making you feel less hungry
-It's hot, which will make you feel good inside AND speed up body processes
-Does not count as a meal for lack of calories
-Cheap alternative to a normal meal
-Can be eaten anytime without regrets

5. Tea

Tea combines advantages of water and soup, because it's hot like soup, has its own flavor, and has the convenience of being prepared easily.

The calorie level of tea is ridiculously low so that you don't need to count calories here. You can drink as much as you want. Some teas, especially green tea, offer important antioxidants that keep your body healthy. This is especially important in a diet.

6. Vegetable smoothies

You need to know that vegetable juice and smoothies are some of the worst things to drink when on a diet, because they contain masses of sugars. But there is one nice exception: The vegetable smoothie. It consists only of green vegetables (and thus, looks green). These green vegetables are vegetables that contain the smallest amount of sugar, sometimes almost zero.

Drinking a vegetable smoothie is like eating lots and lots of healthy vegetables that you would usually find very tasteless and boring. The only downside is that it may be hard to find low carb vegetable smoothies in stores, and to make them at home requires really good blenders that can destroy the texture of vegetables.
